Disaster Response

When Natural Disasters strike, does your generator service company
have the resources to properly support you?

Do they quickly become overwhelmed and hard to contact?

Are they local and lack the ability to bring professional resources from outside the affected area to assist in recovery efforts?

Let’s face it. No matter how new or well maintained your generator assets are, there are bound to be failures when storms and other disasters strike.

If you are relying on local generator companies, the odds are that in times of major disasters, they will quickly become overwhelmed and, quite possibly, out of commission. As companies located in coastal Louisiana & Mississippi can attest, when Katrina struck, local generator technicians could not be found. They had evacuated their families or were left homeless.

This scenario could play out in any coastal city or town throughout the Southeast.

Fortunately, there is a solution. Power Pro-Tech Services has unparalleled capabilities and experience in disaster response and recovery. We are the largest generator service company operating across the entire Southeast.

When disasters strike, PPT mobilizes our large and geographically diverse field technician force to bring resources to those areas most affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms and other disasters.

We have been among the first responders in all major Hurricane activity during the past 5 years. For example, when Wilma knocked out power all across South Florida in October of 2005, Power Pro-Tech pulled over 20 technicians from north Florida, the Panhandle and Georgia to assist the eight local technicians to aid in recovery efforts. Likewise, in the aftermath of Katrina, we sent 13 Technicians to Coastal Mississippi and Louisiana. Our commitment of resources to the recovery effort in New Orleans lasted for over 10 months.

We have made investments in technology and equipment to maximize our effectiveness in emergencies, including satellite phones, mobile housing, GPS systems, and portable generators and fuel tanks. Our truck fleet consists of heavy-duty diesel powered 4x4’s that are prepared to travel any terrain under any conditions.

Of course, our ability to mobilize resources at the time of disasters is driven by the commitment that customers provide us to service their generators across the entire Southeast under normal conditions. By contracting with us to service their generators across our entire coverage area, our customers can rely on our having the resources to mobilize and commit to them when disasters strike.

However, unlike other emergency response companies, there is no “retainer” or “stand-by fee” to be paid. Disaster response and recovery is just a natural outgrowth of PPT’s scale and scope of operations.
